The Pieces of the Puzzle

When I started to get organized, I found myself feeling lost. I must have looked at over 50 different "Plan books", "Binder Sets", and general organizers. Nothing seemed to have EVERYTHING I wanted or needed. I always wanted a couple things from here and other pieces from there. That's when I decided on finding a way to put my own pieces together.

Piece #1: The 3-ring binder

Because I was feeling nostalgic for my school days, I made sure I had one that allowed my to insert my own cover. I also purchased reinforcement stickers for any pages I knew were likely to tear out. I find they really help me because I don't have to worry about losing pages or having to reprint them when they do.

Piece #2: Divider Tabs
I don't know about you, but I have a strange obsession with dividers. The more the merrier. I to be able to find things as quickly as possible.

Piece # 3: TRACEE ORMAN!!!
While I am not a frequent user of Teachers Pay Teachers, I like to browse the free section from time to time. It was there that I came across Tracee Orman and her amazing documents! After not finding what I needed or wanted, it was SUCH a relief to find her Completely Editable Teacher Binder Jumbo Pack. The $8.00 price tag felt like a steal! She has everything! Lesson plan objective sheets, calendars, sub folder sheets, Notes home, meeting notes pages, and everything in between! I LOVE being organized and consistent, but I am TERRIBLE at creating any sort of template or form that looks not only neat but professional. Tracee is a gift from the teaching gods! I highly encourage all the products as she is amazing. Below are a couple previews of this amazing set! Just click any of the photos to go to her page and purchase the set!

Piece # 4: My Lesson Plan Book
While Tracee had wonderful planning and recording pages, I really needed something a little more sturdy than printer paper. I kid you not, I sat in Mardel's and compared EVERY SINGLE Plan and Record Book they had. I chose to purchase the Renewing Minds Lesson Plan & Record Book in the Isabella pattern.

My main reason for making this decision was because this planner had divider tabs already built in! Three sections: a Communication log (required by my district), a grade book with PLENTY of pages, and a weekly lesson planner with ample amounts of space. I use this lesson plan space to work out my weekly/monthly/unit goals and objectives. I use Tracee's individual Lesson objective sheets to work out all the specifics.I know paper grade books are becoming old school, but sometimes my online book and I have spats so it's nice to have a hard copy as well.
What do you think?
Do you like what I have put together? what works best for you? What are your biggest problems with staying organized? I'd love to hear your opinions and feedback!

Part 2 will go into detail about my class notebook section and what it means for my students! Stay tuned!
