As a new teacher, there are days that I really feel disheartened and let down. I feel defeated and frustrated. The thought creeps up "If they won't care, why should I?" Fortunately I was shown the video below. When I am having those moments, I watch it to remind myself why I teach. It is incredibly inspirational and honest. I show it to my students every once in a while, when they need it... when I need them to hear it.
The video started out as a blog post by Chase Mielke who was named Michigan Teacher of the Year Nominee in 2014. You can read more of his posts on his blog, Affective Living. If you have a moment to check it out, I highly recommend that you do. If you want to check out the original post, you can find it here. :)
